We currently share
our lives with eight Aussies, three males and five females. Below is a description
of each member of our Aussie family. |
OUR BOYS
|
|
|

|
This
is Timmy. He is king of our Aussie pack and well deserving of the honour. He's
without doubt the nicest dog one could hope to own, friends with the whole
world, confident, goofy, fun-loving, well-mannered (most of the time) and
gentle as a lamb. As Timmy grew up we got a clear picture in our heads of what we were aiming for with
our Aussies, something that looks great and is also an absolute
pleasure to live with. If we can produce puppies just like him we'll make lots of
people very happy. |

Meet
Fergus. He has the same mother
as Timmy but his father is from working dog lines, known for their
intelligence and versatility, as well as their amazing colours. Fergus
is Ron's best mate and constant companion around the farm. He is extremely
distinctive looking and gets admired wherever we go. More importantly, Fergus has the same kind of
temperament as Timmy, exactly what we are trying to produce here at
HevnSent. He is kind but gutsy, loyal, responsive and confident. |

This little guy
is called Boomer. He's a fair dinkum working type Aussie and we imported him
from Sweden because we
were so impressed with Fergus, who's father is a full brother to Boomer's
dad. Boomer has an outstanding temperament but he
is a full-on working type dog who does everything at top speed. He's a
great companion but is one of those Aussies that needs a job to do. He can't bear it if we do any work with the stock and he's not
involved. Although he's quite happy to spend most of the day snoozing in
the office, if there is something happening he just has to be there. He
even rounds up the other dogs when there are no goats or sheep to move.
Fortunately his pups are a whole lot calmer, but we are pretty careful
when choosing who to mate him with. We love his full-on personality but
it's probably not for everyone. |

OUR GIRLS
|
|
|

|
This
is a rear view of one of our original Aussies, Sherbet. As
the name implies, Sherbet is just the sweetest thing money could buy. She's also
as fizzy as might be expected and has a bubbly, energetic personality that
keeps us all laughing. Sherbet is basically unstoppable and we are still
waiting for her to settle down and grow up, although she's now nine years
old. She's been desexed and is loving life on the farm and still
travelling at top speed. Her days are spent
patrolling the yards and her nights curled up on her favourite leather
chair. |
|

|
Meet
Dee, another of our older, retired Aussies. Dee is a soft, gentle dog but
is one of those aussies that doesn't feel comfortable with strangers, so
she tends to disappear when visitors arrive. Dee had two litters before
she was desexed to enjoy life on the farm. She's generally to be found
either curled up on a bed or helping Ron out with his chores. Her
favourite treat is riding in the tractor. |

Jemima
stayed at
HevnSent almost by accident. She was the smallest pup in Sherbet's first
litter and wasn't as pretty or as confident as her boisterous brothers and
sisters. She also suffered terribly from car sickness so we had difficulty
socialising her as well as we would have liked. We weren't prepared to sell
her while she was unable to get out and about so we kept her for a while. Needless to say, she blossomed into a
beautiful dog and, by the time she got over her car sickness and the right home came along, we simply couldn't
bear to part with her. Jemima is very much part of our doggie family and has
had two litters, one with Boomer and her latest with Fergus. |
|
|
This
is Maddi. She's a very sweet little girl. We thought Maddi was
one of the prettiest puppies in Sherbet's first litter, although she had
strong competition from some of her litter mates and their new owners might
not agree with us. She did well in the showring and
almost made it to her conformation title before we decided we'd had enough
of showing. Maddi is always up for a game, having inherited her mothers playful (and often quite
silly) sense of humour. She's had two litters and is the mother of
Candy, shown below. |
|

|
This
is Candy, the latest permanent addition to our family. Candy was born in
2007 and almost went to Canada to live, but ended up staying with us.
She's just an excellent little dog. Very bright and obedient, slightly
smaller than some aussies and also with less coat. She's just a fraction reserved
when she first meets someone, probably due to growing up on the farm with fewer opportunities for
socialisation, but once she's met you she's a friend for life. She's a fantastic little
mate to have around on the farm and makes a great babysitter. She can't
wait until she's old enough to have her own pups, maybe sometime in 2009. |
